For accurate measurements, it is very important that you follow the following pre-measurement protocol:
Rest (seated quietly) and avoid activity for 10-15 minutes
Refrain from eating or drinking for at least 4 hours (water is allowed)
Refrain from exercise (aerobic or strength training) for at least 4 hours
Refrain from consuming caffeine, nutritional supplements or medications containing ephedra, Ma Huang or pseudoephedrine for at least 4 hours
Refrain from smoking or using nicotine for at least 1 hour
How fast or sluggish is your metabolism?
Metabolic testing measures your resting metablic rate (RMR) by measuring the amount of oxygen consumed at rest. This number tells you how many calories you burn at rest over a 24-hour period.
RMR is often invaluable as it takes the guesswork out of estimating the daily required energy needs. Based on the obtained result, we can determine how many calories you need to consume each day to maintain, lose or gain weight.
