Recipes often call for specific amount of certain ingredients, but converting the measurements can get really confusing. Keep this cheat sheet nearby and you will never be puzzled again:
dash = pinch = 1/8 tsp
3 tsp = 1 Tbsp
1 Tbsp = 1/2 fl oz
4 Tbsp = 1/4 cup = 2 fl oz
5 Tbsp + 1 tsp = 1/3 cup
16 Tbsp = 1 cup = 8 fl oz
2 cups = 1 pint = 16 fl oz
2 pints = 1 quart = 32 fl oz
4 quarts = 1 gallon = 128 fl oz
1 gram = 0.035 ounce
1 oz = 28.35 grams
454 grams = 1 pound
2.2 pounds = 1 kilogram
1 tsp = 5 milliliters
1 Tbsp = 15 milliliters
1 fl oz = 28.35 milliliters
1 cup = 0.24 liters
1 gallon = 3.8 liters
1 pound of butter = 4 sticks = 2 cups
1 stick butter = 1/2 cup = 8 tablespoons
NOTE: 1 lb of water = 16 fluid oz; dry measurements and liquid measurements are NOT interchangeable. The exception to this rule = water, milk, eggs, and fruit juices because 16 fluid oz of such ingredients weigh 1 pound.
