This piece of exercise equipment will fit both your home décor and your exercise plan.  Why? Because it attaches to your door frames without any holes or drilling and can be put away once you are done. The iron gym, as it is properly called,  can be used for all kinds of pull-ups, chin-ups, and knee-raises for your abs while it is hanging up. Once moved to the floor, it can be used for push-ups, tricep dips, and sit-ups. Read more…

RICOTTA TOAST

Yield: 1 serving

Whole Wheat Bread, 2 slices

1/2 cup reduced-fat ricotta cheese

Grapes, Green Seedless, 1/2 cup

Toast 2 slices of bread. Spread each slice with the reduced-fat or fat-free ricotta. Cut the grapes in 1/2 and put on top of the toast.  Drizzle with a bit of honey. Enjoy.

hummus

Hummus is one of my favorite dishes, which can be made in minutes. Use it as a dip or spread it on some whole wheat bread and top off with a slice of avocado to have an enjoyable and filling lunch.

Chickpeas, 2 cans + about 1/4 cup of liquid reserved from the cans (otherwise the hummus will be too dry)

Sesame Tahini, 1/2 cup

Garlic, 3 Cloves

Olive Oil, 1/4 Tbsp

Paprika, 1 pinch

White Pepper, 1 Tbsp

Salt, 1 tsp (or to taste)

Lemon Juice, 3 Tbsp

***To make your hummus extra special, add ALEPPO PEPPER to taste. I have not been able to find it in any local stores. It can, however, be ordered online. Aleppo pepper adds an amazing flavor to hummus and many other dishes.

Mix all the ingredients in a bowl and blend with a hand-held blender. Garnish with olives, pine nuts, parsley…or nothing at all. ENJOY!

NOTE: If you do not have a hand-held blender, a regular one can be used instead.

Below are more hummus recipes. They all use the same ingredients. It all comes down to personal taste and preference. Taste yours as you make it and feel free to add more of certain ingredients as you go along:

During our move to our new place last year, we were saddened to find out that our plates would not fit into our kitchen cabinets. At first, I was furious with the person who designed this kitchen.
